tingens och teknikens inflytande p den enskilda m nniskan och samh llet som helhet, teman som jag personligen g rna l ser om.Och som han skriver Man f rst r hur uselt en del f rfattare faktiskt allra dyrbaraste s ttet, den insikten, att man aldrig skulle n till Klockrike De som aldrig s kt det skulle ha det lika bra In this work Nobel laureate Martinson recreates, with miraculous ability and detail, a world now entirely vanished Fundamentally, it asks about the possibility and viability of living your life outside of common society without becoming severed from itsuniversally recognized norms and values Not only is it as relevant today as when it was published 1948 but it does as great a job as anything else I ve read of making me feel a part of, and in complete understanding of, a world that In this work Nobel laureate Martinson recreates, with miraculous ability and detail, a world now entirely vanished Fundamentally, it asks about the possibility and viability of living your life outside of common society without becoming severed from itsuniversally recognized norms and values Not only is it as relevant today as when it was published 1948 but it does as great a job as anything else I ve read of making me feel a part of, and in complete understanding of, a world that no longer exists This is the third time or fourth, really, since I had to re read it in Swedish yet again after now having read it in English for the first time I ve read this book This is unusual for me and obviously a testament to how highly I regard it What caused me to pick it up oncewas that I came across an English translation 1955 in a used book store here in Hong Kong utterly unexpected and wonderfully satisfying I fear I unwittingly giggled Nonetheless, I was a bit apprehensive about reading a translation When I ve had other opportunities to compare an original text with its translation not a frequent occurrence to be fair , it s typically been underwhelming In this instance, I d say the translation is very competent but it does lose a certain something nonetheless I can t quite put my finger on it, it s nuances obviously though I can t bespecific than that, but probably because the Swedish original is, to me, the epitome of next to perfect prose writing However, me not being a native English speaker possibly contributes to this missing something , so I conclude my conclusion is not conclusive Anyhow, in V gen till Klockrike The Road in English , we follow the vagrant Bolle on his journeys through a Sweden which is in rapid and comprehensive transformation as a result of industrialization Through the eyes of Bolle, the author creates a series of diverse episodes and brilliantly executed characters that provide us with an incredibly rich perspective of a tramp s trials and tribulations against a backdrop of a society and way of life in dramatic upheaval It is an ode to the freedom of the road and comradeship butoften about suspicion, alienation and the harsh lessons of being an outcast, of not properly belonging, of trying to overcome the aggressive fear of the peasants one day and the brutal and pitiless judgement of the law the next It is a beautiful, beautiful novel perceptive, compassionate but also exacting of both its reader and its subjects Bello, un po lungo ma le pagine scivolano via con piacere Uno degli scrittori del filone autodidatti e proletari che raccontano la Svezia dal basso, con poesia ed un umanesimo laico che sa ben coinvolgere il lettore. *DOWNLOAD EBOOK ✘ Vägen till Klockrike ✘ I V gen till Klockrike f r vi f grusv garna genom t t barrskog och de leende insj arna som erbjuder svalka t f tterna, konsten att tigga utan att provocera, de bofastas instinktiva r dsla, de fruktade ridande poliserna och straffarbetet i Berget tadlarna men ocks folket i mildg rdarna, och s alla Bolles kamrater i utst ttheten Magerl ngen, V gdamm och filosofen SandemarDet r hos vandringsm nnen och deras dr m om friheten som Harry Martinson har sitt hj rta, och han delar deras misstro mot de besuttna och deras v rnande om sitt och sig sj lva Pretty solid book, it especially gets a lot better towards the end and there s a lot of insightful dialogue and monologue about the human condition, limits of our understanding, and so on Enjoyed the read If you find this book best book ever, maybe you are my soul mate.
