A part of me wishes this series would just end already I mean Riley Jack and their herd of children and all the gays on their ranch are just getting to be too much total overkill At this point I just keep reading because it s like my childhood bedroom I loved it once and it feels familiar But each time I come home I cringe that it s remained unchanged and I hate having to sleep in it because I ve outgrown it But, I have to because it s mine And can we PUT TO REST the het boy nickname A part of me wishes this series would just end already I mean Riley Jack and their herd of children and all the because still no 1 2 stars here on GR It s time to revisit an old favorite It s been four years since I read this book and I have to admit in my reading experience I ve found that sometimes when there s a large gap of time between originally reading a book and when I re read it or in this case listen to the audio book it doesn t always go well, but I m happy to say that was not the case with this book If anything, I enjoyed the audio book just a little bitthan 4.5 stars rounded down because still no 1 2 stars here on GR It s time to revisit an old favorite It s been four years since I read ve really enjoyed reading all of R J Scott s Texas series and having the opportunity to revisit these characters in audio book format has been a treat, so much so that I m looking forward to treating my self to the rest of this series in the near future Sean Crisden is the narrator for this title as well as previous titles and I have to admit when it comes to books involving cowboys he s one of my favorites I love his deep, gravelly, easy drawl along with the fact that he consistently ticks all my basic audio narrator boxes with his consistent, unique and expressive voices For anyone who isn t familiar with this series I strongly recommend starting at the first book and reading them in order Jack and Riley are the main characters in this series and their story starts back in the first book The Heart of Texas Jack and Riley started as an enemies to lovers story in book one and each successive story follows them as their relationship grows and here in the fourth book Riley and Jack have decided it s time for their family to grow and have decided that surrogacy is how they want this to happen and Jack will be the father But as can often be the case plans go astray and things may not end up the way they intended but both men are quick to realize that while they didn t get what they d signed up for they were getting the family they wanted In spite of all their advantages, this isn t a story that s so perfect it makes me feel like I m going to sink into a diabetic coma Jack and Riley still have the stress of day to day life and the problems it brings to deal with running a horse ranch, managing an ethical oil exploration company, dealing with relationship struggles both theirs and their families, making compromises and finding solutions Texas Family is a nice slice of life look at what s happening in the world of Jack, Riley and their family It was also a chance to see them building the life together that they d started in Texas Family and continued to work towards in Texas Winter and then in Texas Heat I love this series, these characters the lack of angst and extreme drama, no great mystery to solve just the day to day life of two people in love building a life together that would see their dream of family become reality There are a few authors whose books are comfort food for me for my brain, my heart and my soul I know the kind of story I m going to get and it s one that I can lose myself in and enjoy They re my go to authors when I ve been left with too many jagged edges by life and or by emotionally draining books R J Scott is one of those authors and her Texas series are among those books An audio book of Texas Family was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review 4 StarsIn this fourth story in the Texas series, we are much loved series I look forward to seeing what comes next for Jack and Riley This was a really nice story in the series Jack and Riley are still one of my favourite couples and I loved seeing them expand their family The cover is a pretty big giveaway as to how big their family is, but that isn t a bad thing I really like the cover The first one will always be my favourite It was a book I connected with straight away and is a firm favourite of mine But this was a really strong second I can t wait for the next book in the series. caused by his premature birth Suffice it to say, with their surrogacy resulting in viable twins, the thought of adding another child by adopting Max isn t far behind. There s some awesome sex in this one too, with a scene in the barn Jack fantasies about at his sperm donation session turning into super hot reality a wee while later.More intrigue is on the cards as the ranch takes on a young lad called Liam, who catches the eye of Marcus, the guy who runs the surrogacy company the guys are using.Book four s not overly dramatic but has a real feel of family, appropriately enough I think the next one could see us back into soap opera land though so off I go |READ EPUB ⚇ Texas Family ♗ Jack and Riley Campbell Hayes begin a journey that will change their lives foreverSet against the backdrop of the Double D, the cast of the Texas books face changes that won t leave a single one of them untouchedJack and Riley want to extend their small family of three Their first choice is surrogacy with Jack as the father and when all this begins smoothly both men can t help but contemplate at what point would things go wrong After all, their lives are far from normal and nothing is ever smoothAdd a small four year old boy in foster care into the mix and suddenly things become a whole lot complicated Re read January 2020Re read November 2017 What can I say I love these stories More than this core family, the definition now seems to have grown and extends to include the men who work on the horse ranch and, of course, the remaining members of Riley and Jack s relatives Eli and Robbie are back, a new couple s unexpected romance springs up toward the end, and the various siblings and parents have their ownor less romantic issues to battle with Does anyone still doubt this is becoming a soap opera of grand proportions I certainly don t, and I have to say that I enjoy this one a lotthan many of its brethren on TV One of the things I enjoyed most in the previous book was how much Riley and Jack have grown as characters and as a couple As it turns out, they need every ounce of that sometimes hard won maturity to deal with their grandest adventure yet the addition of another child to their group of three And not just because it turns out there are three instead of just one applicants for the position, but mostly because of the additional complications, issues, and surprises they have to deal with as they embark on what sounds like a simple decision Let s become daddies again turns into lots of stress and quite a few planned as well as a couple of unforeseen projects.Thank God the one thing both Riley and Jack can rely on is their love for each other They re as hot as ever when they find a moment to themselves, be it in bed, the barn the scene of some very, very hot imagined and real encounters , the newly added pool, or anywhere else lust and desire overcomes them All the planning and running around to get things done cannot distract these two from the thing they need the most each other As ever, the variety of subplots and events is great and makes sure I was never bored The issues of surrogacy and adoption are handled sensitively, as is the addition of a child with learning difficulties to the mix If you like the Campbell Hayes men and want to know what s going on in their lives, if you enjoy romantic soap operas and ever unfolding drama, and if you re looking for a great read with lots of heat between loving husbands as well as deeply felt love and affection for their growing DD ranch family in the heart of Texas, don t miss this book The next installment can t come quickly enough NOTE This book was provided by the author for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews Overall book rating 3 5 Stars Audio book N A Book Cover 3 5 StarsI was actually a bit disappointed with this book The jumping form one month the the next gave the illusion you miss information I like to know everything I know why it was done I get that but it feels like I missed a part of everything, and I just didn t like it I know they are two males having twins but they were a bit unorganized with everything from the renovation of the house up to the delivery of the twins.
