Fantastic story with twists and turns I couldn t put it down, but couldn t finish the last few chapters quick enough. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here I just finished the first book in this series a few days ago and as many things about this story that get under my skin, the series has something that makes it a nice read if not good topic for mystery loving friends I will not go over the judgmental tones in the series as a whole, but will say that it is hard not to see it when it comes up.I will say that unlike the first book we hear a bit less about her late husband, but the relationship between her and the shop owner is not clear I still d I just finished the will not go over the judgmental tones in the series as a whole, but will say that it is hard not to see it when it comes up.I will say that unlike the first book we hear a bit less about her late husband, but the relationship between her and the shop owner is not clear I still do not feel we see as much about genealogy as we do hear about it in this book, mostly all talk and little to no action.Unlike the first book I found some of the characters to feel flat, but the mysterious house is a good plot line and interesting til the end I felt the dog Jackson was forced, and I feel like Anna was rude not to check ahead of time if it would be alright to bring him to someone else home, as well as it being somewhat cocky to look down on someone for not wanting or liking dogs in the house But that is nothing new for Anas personality, maybe it is her faith or just her mindset but she seems to think she is better then others and look down onpeople then friends she seems to have.I did think it wasthen stupid not to keep her work with her, and to keep talking about secret things with the door open all the time They seem to ask for someone to steel there stuff and listen in, the plot felt slow in places but not always because of the story, but because of how the two main characters seemed to just ask stupid questions or just do random things with out finishing whatever they are doing.I will not say I would read this again, but It did kill some time and it is not the worse book I could have read When the owner of a mansion in the Colorado mountains hires Anna Denning to research his family tree, it s Anna s dream come true A library brimming with old documents, an undiscovered family history whatcould a genealogist want Excited by the possibilities and fueled by a new love in her life, Anna, tenacious as ever, is undeterred by rumors that a ghost haunts the mansion Until she uncovers records that suggest those rumors arethan idle talk.RATING 4.5Book 2 of the noises, murders old and new , etc It definitely has the feel of an Alfred Hitchcock Thriller Once again, Anna is involved in a genealogy project This one would be a genealogist s dream come true a library filled with all the old family papers wish I could have this happen But has Anna along with her friend Liz bitten off a bit too much Kaufman s descriptions of early spring in Colorado paint pictures that the reader can imagine adding to the creepiness of this suspense filled mystery She includes enough red herrings that I was never quite sure who the culprit was and why Anna is once again a strong character who along with her dog Jackson takes on whatever comes her way Liz provides a nice even balance as she and Anna help one another I loved this cozy mystery but would have liked to see a littleof Gene and their developing relationship I also felt the faith thread was extremely light in this book compared to The Witch Tree I would definitely recommend this book to cozy mystery readers and will read the others in this series.FAVORITE QUOTES You don t have to forget the past I m not asking you to Remember it, cherish it, and let it be in its proper place One day there ll be the Sparrow House that was reported to be haunted and it had all the elements an old decaying mansion, questionable but colorful characters and of course things that go bump in the nights and as well a puzzling mystery Of course that didn t stop Anna from digging into the mysterious past of the house It kept me at the edge of the seat and prevented me from even discovering who the culprit was I
