For those of you that are Jane Corrie fans, I think you will enjoy this one The heroine is delightful, strong and feisty However, she has led a rather sheltered life and has grown up expecting to marry the boy next door I typically am not one to enjoy those long internal dialogues, but the author hit a home run with this as she took you through the journey of enlightenment for a young woman I would have rated this one much higher except there is a scene view spoiler where the hero violent For those of you that are Jane Corrie fans, I think you will enjoy this one The heroine is delightful, strong and feisty However, she has led a rather sheltered life and has grown up expecting to marry the boy next door I typically am not one to enjoy those long internal dialogues, but the author hit a home run with this as she took you through the journey of enlightenment for a young woman I would have rated this one much higher except there is a scene view spoiler where the hero violently slaps the heroine leaving marks on her face hide spoiler This was a major negative for me, and I lost faith in the hero He wasn t worthy of the young girl, nor my interest as a reader. This is very typical of Jane Corrie She writes some very arrogant heroes that are not worth loving However, the story was fun and entertaining and very well written I just couldn t categorize it as romance, so I kept it at 3 stars I didn t enjoy it very much. The hero was no prize but since I was forced to live exclusively inside the heroine s head, my wrath is for her Completely passive, lukewarm, wishy washy, and inept at everything, she didn t leave much room for sympathy Come on, you live at an Australian ranch all your life and you have acquired no skills No interest No passion Usually, authors are pretty good at making their plucky heroines relatable by way of at least one characteristic love of family, affinity for animals, artistic tale The hero was no prize but since I was forced to live exclusively inside the heroine s head, my wrath is for her Completely passive, lukewarm, wishy washy, and inept at everything, she didn t leave much room for sympathy Come on, you live at an Australian ranch all your life and you have acquired no skills No interest No passion Usually, authors are pretty good at making their plucky heroines relatable by way of at least one characteristic love of family, affinity for animals, artistic talent, craftiness, cooking, math skills, musical leanings, ANYTHING This one couldn t even manage toast without burning it JEEZ gimme a break She spent all her time fretting about the autocratic, arrogant hero who rode roughshod over her Well, honey, you let him Honestly, so infuriating BLECH
