commitment For the past three years Gabe risked his life for nothing Three years wasted on crazy climbing he did climb routes no one else would dare to touch and meaningless sex while trying so hard to numb and forget his pain and anger He is always looking for the next shot of adrenaline until he meets Kat, that isMaybe I was trying to understand why a man with so much heart acts like he no longer has oneGabe, the adrenaline junkie and rock semigod Rock climbing, alpine climbing, ice climbing, skiing, mountain biking you name it Gabe prefers skiing Gabe meets Kat for the first time during a rescue when a rock slide almost takes her life A couple of months later their paths crossed again when Boulder police raided an inipi a sweat lodge ceremony that a group of Indian people were holding on Mesa Butte just east of Boulder Native people have been using the site, which is considered sacred, for hundreds of years But the city has suddenly decided to enforce land use codes Kat who is a journalist starts to investigate the possible violation of Native American rights American Indian Religious Freedom Act and therefore finds herself turning to Gabe Rossiter for help Kat.I ve never been with a man, and I won t be until I find the one who wants to be a part of my life and isn t just looking for a one night stand So unless you want lots of children, love mutton stew, and enjoy spending your summer vacations in one hundred fourteen degree heat in a two room hogaan without electricity or running water, we shouldn t even start down that roadKat is Kimimila butterflyPamela s sensitivity to the Native American issues in this story made me enjoy Naked Edge so muchI think she did a fine and respectful job at portraying a culture that I have adored for a long time by now Also, the climbing aspects felt real and authentic She really takes her time to research her stories properly Kudos, Pamela Kat s dream catcher I loved this story And I loved Gabe What a wonderful and altruistic hero this guy is I get it that the reader may have some doubts about his being selfless in the beginning of the story, however, as the plot develops it becomes very clear that Gabe cares deeply about Kat Even though he thought that he could give her no love, no emotions, ultimately he fell very hard for Kat Oh, what view spoiler a pun He sacrificed his life to save hers No worries, though, of course Gabe survived and there is a HEA hide spoilerYou re not broken, Gabe Rossiter You re just afraid to let yourself feel because feeling hurts so much But feeling is part of living You can t escape it If you try, you ll hurt yourself worse than view spoiler Jill hide spoiler ever couldThe announcement of harm the infamous coyote The chemistry between Gabe and Kat is utterly palpable and well written Their relationship evolved slowly yet steadily and first and foremost it was believable Also, I really enjoyed their dialogue Admittedly, I m not a huge fan of inner monologue, but what Gabe had to say to himself and to his d ck made me laugh time and again It was very entertaining I have a minor complaint I m aware that Kat had every reason to weep as much as she did, but it was kinda hard to swallow and I m not a reader who appreciates excessive crying Well, in the end I just had to cut her some slack, though, because she had to deal with a couple of bad events in a short time span Hence, no hard feelings Plenty of snow in the Colorado Mountains My favorite part of the story Le sigh Some intense and beautiful lovemaking.Intense Sexual Pleasure Pamela knows how to write a great story but she also knows how to write passionate, intense yet very tasteful love scenes With a mighty fine hand she pushed Kat and the reader into sexual oblivion Kat found herself on the edge of mind blowing, sexual pleasure Whew I want to be a virgin again Hasteen nizhoni Her beautiful man All those aspects about sex and virginity were explained very well I quote Tradition Navajo culture held that sex was for making babies and that masturbation was evil, beliefs reinforced by Navajo creation stories From what Gabe had read, solo sex was a forbidden topic, something people simply didn t discuss, lumped in with sodomy, homosexuality, pedophilia, and rape Exposing one s genitals, even to one s husband or wife, was still considered shameful by some, sex something to be done at night in the dark in silence And until recently, oral sex had been illegal on the rez Taken together, he could see why Kat was still a virgin Dramatic and very painful ending. This is one of the most dramatic scenes that I ve ever read in a romantic suspense novel Incredibly thrilling and well written My heart was in my throat and I could feel the goosebumps Without a shadow of a doubt Gabe loved Kat deeply otherwise he wouldn t have done that for her I love you, Katherine James I love you with everything I am You re the best thing that s ever happened to me and believable, addressing topics close to home that we only hear or read little bits about in the news Regardless of the subject matter, I love how she imparts information, giving usinsight into what the characters are dealing with while keeping us fully engrossed in the story and invested in them as people And how she always does this without bogging the story down in lectur esque details is beyond me, but one thing all of her stories have in common is that much of what she writes about she s experienced firsthand There s no guessing, no filling in details and hoping she got it right her books comes straight from the pages of her life, and you can feel it in the characters, in their words and actions, in the way they live their lives because Ms Clare has lived it also. And, Sweet Mary Does this woman know how to write alpha males They are the perfect combination of rugged, honorable, sexy, determined, intelligent, sexy, and devoted to their causes and to those they love And wow, have I mentioned sexy The heroines are people you can relate to, believe in and even though I d rather have the heroes any one of them for myself, I m wanting to see the females get their happily ever after so badly, that I m willing to share Yes, yes so very selfless of me, but that s just the kind of person I am So let s talk about Naked Edge Katherine James is a Navajo environmental journalist on the I Team, the Denver Independent newspapers s elite group of investigative reporters Her background in Native American traditions, beliefs and ways of life give her a unique perspective when covering stories relating to the people Kat has a very deep love and respect for the earth, and enjoys spending time at Mesa Butte with her friends, but one afternoon while sitting and enjoying the scenery alone, she hears a loud crack and feels the ground give way beneath her Unable to find anything to grab hold of, she finds herself at the mercy of a rockslide As darkness envelopes her, Kat s last thoughts are,I don t want to die todayLucky for her, it wasn t her time to go.Gabe Rossiter, Boulder Mountain Park Ranger, was enjoying his day off, getting in some rock climbing, when he hears a woman scream, glances over in time to see rocks sliding down the side of a slope and caught sight of the woman falling with them Moving quickly, he made his way to where he knew the rocks would have come to a standstill and looked for the woman he was positive he had seen Finding only her backpack, he was certain she was dead, having been buried under the debris Only when he hears her cry out in pain does he realize that she s managed to crawl away from the rockslide, despite her broken leg, and was making her way toward the trail in search of help Doing what he could to stabilize her and calm her down, Gabe calls in their position and a rescue team gets there in no time, whisking Kat away from the accident and the man who saved her life.A few months later, Gabe and Kat are brought together again in another unfortunate event when a sacred religious ceremony Kat is attending is violently disrupted by law enforcement personnel Gabe arrives just in time to see Kat being dragged by the hair from the sweat lodge where the inipi ceremony was taking place, by an overzealous, with an exaggerated view of his own self importance who, having no jurisdiction, shouldn t have been there in the first place One thing leads to another, reports are filed, threats are made, and Kat and Gabe find themselves in a fight for their lives. The sexual tension in this book is through the roof Gabe is carrying tons of baggage from his previous relationship with his fianc e who died three years earlier Now, he s all about sex, getting off, a real f ck em and leave em style Don Juan Norelationships for him love doesn t really exist The only thing there might be between a man and a woman is sexual chemistry, nothingKat, on the other hand, does believe in true love, and won t give herself sexually to any man She s holding out for her true half side, the one man who will complete her much to Gabe s dismay But as I said, the sexual tension is high and the non sex sex scenes are some of the hottest I ve ever read Wow have a cold drink and a fan nearby I m just sayin Kat is very different from any other female lead I ve ever read She has this amazing ability to love unconditionally, and such a calm, gentle spirit, that while I admired her, I wasn t sure I could come to believe in her as a heroine who would be able to hold her own I should have known better than to doubt While she might come across and meek and mild, when the chips were down it was her quiet confidence, her inner strength, and her faith that kept her going As the story is reaching its suspenseful climax, Kat has fought with everything she has in her to escape When she realizes that struggling any at this particular moment won t do her any good and that she needs to save her strength for when the opportunity arises and she really can fight back, she becomes so focused So calm She begins singing Native American songs from her childhood, and I loved that Throughout the book we see how important her heritage is to her, and in a time when she most needed a calm strength, she had that to draw from For Kat, in my opinion, this is what made the difference between life and death I m not going to go into any of the story itself, but I just have to say that toward the end of the book while performing an act of absolute selflessness that had me sobbing so hard I had to put the book down to compose myself, Gabe went from being a hero I really liked, to one I not only love, but adore, one who has earned a spot on my Top Heroes shelf While the stories and the players change, one thing is a given Anytime I pick up one of Pamela Clare s books, I know exactly what to expect a fabulous read that will have me thinking about the characters and their lives long after I ve finished the story. As an aside If you choose to read Naked Edge, and I truly hope you do, once you get past Kat s accident on Mesa Butte, go to Ms Clare s website and read about how she came up with this part of the story You ll be amazed In fact, even if you choose not to read this book, at least read the author s notes now I ll leave you with this parting word of caution I ve noticed a strange phenomenon attached to Pamela Clare s books Whenever I m reading her stories, I find that my furniture gets dusty, trash piles up and I run out of clean clothes, so be prepared because this is likely to happen to you, too.The I Team reading order, so far 1 Extreme Exposure1.5 Heaven Can t Wait a novella found in the out of print anthology Catch of the Day and on ebook 2 Hard Evidence3 delivers on both the suspense and romance in each and every one of her stories With Naked Edge the author s given longtime fans and new readers another winner in the form of a beautifully tormented yet endearing hero, a gentle and kind hearted heroine, and their wild, rocky story that ensues If you ve read any other books in this series, you ll probably have an idea how the author likes to write her suspense fast paced, action packed that promises to have your heart beating 200 per minute What sets this book apart from the others is that the suspense and mystery parts of the story are a little tamer, subtle rather than blatantly there And in turn, the romance has a bigger focus I would even say that I think this book is the most romantic out of the series While I personally love to havesuspense than romance in RS reads, this combination worked out just fine for me here There s no insta love and the author really takes the time to develop Kat and Gabe s relationship in conjunction with the suspense I ll admit that the entire mystery surrounding sacred artifact looters on Navajo land I figured out before it was revealed, but the buildup to that point was stunning if you ve read the climatic ending scene you ll know what I mean so I didn t mind the mystery was predictable. The romance in this book was just beautiful As mentioned before, the author dedicates a lot of book space to develop the romance, not just throw in I love yous because the hero and heroine escaped death Despite his initial standoffish attitude, Gabe is the perfect kind of hero a little damaged but a whole lot of honorable Kat was the perfect heroine to match him Compared to the other heroines in this series, she s got a calm and quiet presence, and her gentle strength is what draws Gabe to her The fact that she s Navajo was also something I loved as not many books I read have ethnically diverse characters, and the author incorporates Navajo culture and customs in the story, making it feel so muchauthentic.Out of all the books in this series, this is the one I ve re read the most It s not because it s my favorite, but because of the dramatic, somewhat bittersweet ending that gets to me every time Earlier I mentioned how the suspense was predictable but the buildup to the end was what made this book shine This is what I m talking about here the buildup to the unforgettable ending is what keeps bringing me back to this book To avoid spoilers I won t be detailing what happens, so all I m going to say is that despite all his claims that he s an asshole and not worth anything, Gabe is the ultimate hero in my eyes I ve lost count the number of times I ve re read this book The fact that each time I re read it and it still remains a winner amazes me However, when I re read it this time I did notice one thing that annoyed me Kat cried too much I eventually overlooked it because she did go through a lot in a short amount of time, but I m not a fan of weepers and just like the way I lost count the number of times I ve read this book, I also lost count the number of times she burst into tears Other than that, this book was a big winner for me The lush backdrop of the snowy Colorado mountains combined with the steamy, believable romance all the way to the dramatic, heartstopping ending makes it one of my top favorites I highly recommend it, regardless if you re a fan of this series or if you re just looking for a few hours of escapism Naked Edge is the 4th book in the I team series and can be read as a standalone [ EPUB ] ☪ Naked Edge ♻ What do you do when desire drives you to the very brink The day Navajo journalist Katherine James met Gabriel Rossiter, the earth literally moved beneath her feet Nearly killed in a rockslide while hiking, she found her life in the tall park ranger s hands Although she can t forget him she thinks she ll never see him again She is crushed when she recognizes her rescuer among the law enforcement officers raiding a sweat lodge ceremony one night, throwing her and her friends off Mesa Butte, land they consider sacredGabe long ago swore he would never again lose himself to a woman not even one with long dark hair and big eyes that seem to see right through him But from the moment he first sees Kat, the attraction he feels is undeniable Appalled by what he has been ordered to do, he s determined to get to the bottom of recent events at Mesa Butte and to keep Kat safeBut asking questions can be dangerous almost as dangerous as risking one s heart And soon Kat and Gabe s passion for the truth and each other makes them targets for those who would do anything, even kill, to keep Native Americans off their sacred land Probably the BEST book I ve read this year I just looooved the H sleep with her about her virginity, telling him that she was looking for a man whowants to be a part of my life and isn t just looking for a one night stand So unless you want lots of children, love mutton stew, and enjoy spending your summer vacations in one hundred fourteen degree heat in a two room hogaan without electricity or running water, we shouldn t even start down that road I loved the whole characterization of Gabe He was basically a very good guy who had really been emotionally hurt in the past, and therefore afraid to get emotionally tied to a woman again I loved how he fought and fought his feelings for Kat you know the hero never wins when he does that I loved the inner dialogue he had with himself I loved the little italicized responses his conscience made Loved the little nickname the Navaho women gave Gabe Ranger Easy On The Eyes.Loved the scene of a drunken Gabe who had to have Kat drive him home Loved all the wicked things he said he d like to do to KatGod, I want you I want to kiss you until you can t think I want to kiss thoses perfect breasts I want to taste you everywhere I want to f you so damn bad You don t even know what I mean, do youYowza I loved the character of Kat What a heroine to stand up and cheer for Loved her backstory, loved her relationship with Gabe, loved her spunk and her courage, loved how she didn t give up on Gabe No complaints about her, except she did seem to do a lot of crying in this bookbut she did have plenty to cry about both good and bad.Loved the relationship between Kat and Gabe Loved the sexual build up in their relationship as they really got to know each other and went one step further, then one step further, until they finally made love What a beautiful scene that was tender, passionate, and highly erotic.Loved the suspense aspect of the book Loved how it tied into Kat and Gabe getting romantically involved Loved the time that Kat and Gabe spent in the mountain hideaway while their lives were being threatened This time together really cemented the relationship and helped Gabe to see that he was ready to love again.Loved the suspenseful climax of the book OMG, the scene where Gabe was dangling over the cliff with the bad guy, and what he did in order to save Kat s life, brought tears to my eyes Talk about willing to die for your lady love And ahhhh, the epilogue So sweet, so satifying But darn, I just wanted the book to go on and onI hadn t had enough of Gabe and Kat yet A little heads up this book is part of a series, although it s not absolutely necessary to read the ones before this one However, once you read this one, I guarantee you ll want to go back and read all the others All the characters from the previous books make appearances, with some like Marc Hunter from Unlawful Contact and Julian Darcangelo from Hard Evidence having fairly big roles I liked the male bonding they did with Gabe, who needed a few male friends in his life I hope they continue to make appearances in upcoming books.Fans of romantic suspense, you don t want to miss this book It s that good And there is no skimping on the romance, either This was such a well written book, and you can tell the author did plenty of research and knew what she was talking about it came across as very authentic Add to that a couple of real characters with flaws and problems and plenty of chemistry, some very steamy love scenes, and one of the most gripping climaxes I ve ever read that also wrung the tears out of me, and you have one big winner of a book Don t miss it 5 big stars 5 stars Romantic teams up with mountain park ranger and rock climbing god Gabriel Rossiter to uncover the truth, but soon their probing into matters that someone wants kept hidden makes Kat a target and Gabe swears to left him hardened and cynical about love and relationships He feels an explosive attraction and powerful emotional connection to Kat, but Gabe avoids romantic entanglements and is only interested in sex Since she s not willing to compromise her virtue or principles, a relationship between them seems impossible Even though the burned in the past, emotionally anguished, and doesn t believe in love man slut captivated by a beautiful, seemingly unattainable virginal heroine is a rather common theme, Clare conveys a touching, realistic portrayal of Gabe and Kat s sexual chemistry, growing affection, and heartbreaking romantic struggles I really felt like the author strived to be as fair and accurate as possible in her depiction of Native American culture and in shedding light on some of the longstanding prejudices that still exist towards a race of people that history has been continually harsh towards.I don t want to give anything away, but the latter part of the book will have you white knuckle gripping the edge of your seat, and if you re mushy like me, shedding some serious tears Naked Edge is another intense, absorbing, emotional, action packed, and steamy top notch Adelaide, in the State of South Australia, Australia, MAKE OATH AND SAY that I am an I Team oholic I devoured this series one book after the other in October 2010, until I had to wait for the next one Breaking Point I Team, 5 , release date 3rd May 2011 With each book I read in Pamela Clare s sizzling, romantic and suspenseful I Team series, I thought, This one is my favourite , as I loved each and every book so much And NAKED EDGE was no different WONDERFUL read The heroine of Naked Edge is Katherine James, an environmental journalist and valued member of the Denver Independent Investigative Team I Team I ve read that some readers had trouble relating to Kat I, personally, related very strongly to Kat, being half Native though a Native of Borneo, not the Americas Kat is Navajo and half Caucasian, myself Also, having been a modern day 26 year old virgin myself, like Kat, staying strong to my beliefs, awaiting my true half side , believing in love and happily ever afters , trying to find the balance between traditional and modern beliefs I also had a beloved grandmother whose cultural beliefs and teachings remained with me, after I left home What I admired most about Kat was her gentle spirit, quiet strength and love and dedication to her people and the land She wanted to be a journalist to be a voice for the Native people. The hero, Gabriel Rossiter a.k.a Ranger Easy on the Eyes Rock God , is the extreme outdoorsman, a Boulder Mountain Parks Ranger, paramedic, agile climber, scaling heights in nothingthan a pair of shorts and special climbing shoes Mmmm those taut, glistening muscles and skilled skier extraordinaire I wasn t sure about Gabe, in the beginning, because of seeing him getting it on with a woman who was not the heroine But as the story unfolded, with Gabe s back story and seeing him as he came to know and love Kat, I came to love himandGabe had been burnt in love in the past and no longer believed in fairy tales , seeing love as nothingthan physical chemistry But Gabe is honourable, strong, intelligent, rugged, protective, brave, and OH, SO SEXY And what he did for Kat True love Gabe s internal dialogue was so funny and brought many smiles and laughs, as I was readingShe was a virgin who believed in happily ever afters A virgin When was the last time he used that word to describe anything other than olive oil Her gaze dropped to his chest She reached out and ran her fingertips through the sweat damp hair on his chest, the contact making the muscles of his abdomen jerk. His mouth went dry Yeah Fine Hungry One touch, and you re reduced to monosyllables Yeah, you re screwed The sexual tension between Kat and Gabe, and the intimate moments of the I did not have sexual relations kind SIZZLED And when Gabe finally got NAKED Oh, me Oh, my WOW That s all I can say I place my hand on my heart and swear that I LOVED this book and ADORED Kat and Gabe, individually, and together.I also adored the scenes with Julian and Hunt the heroes from Hard Evidence and Unlawful Contact and their smile inducing and laugh out loud adorable bickering What a Bromance I just LOVE them Pamela Clare writes to die for heroes. The climax of this book had me on the edge of my seat, my heart beating rapidly and ready to leap out of my chest, and tears streaming down my face Now THAT was a mighty climax What did I think when I finished this book Well, here s a direct quote from my last status updatesiiiigghhss sniff, sniff grinssighing That was AWESOMENESS The Native American elements in this book were not only grounded in research, but in Pamela Clare s own personal experiences with the Native people Her respect for the Native American people shines through in this story. An Author s Note link below is available on Pamela Clare s blog site and demonstrates how much of Ms Clare s own experiences were drawn from in the writing of this story Reading this Note, I came to not only admire Ms Clare s writing abilities and skill in creating characters that have burrowed their way into my heart, but it is clear that the qualities possessed by her characters are a reflection of her own admirable strength of human spirit and concern and respect for others Bravo, Pamela Mitakuye Oyasin We are all one AUTHOR S NOTE TO THE AFFIDAVIT My Kat, with her hazel green eyes, caramel skin and dark brown hair, is Kristin Kreuk at in my ear wellKABOOM I explode Most of my friends have read this so let s have a look back, no spoilers, just one of my fave scenes actually two, they come one right after the other, and so does Kat Okay, I have one word for you mirror remember the mirrorHe caught her right leg with the back of his right arm, pinned it where it was, then held the mirror between her legs, angling it so that she could see You are beautiful SeeYeah, I see, I hear and right about now I got a whole lot of feeling going on and I can t breathe Then Gabe, in his infinite wisdom, decides to let the na ve Kat see and
