3.5 Stars I have had a soft spot for thieves both reformed or still in need of reforming ever since reading some of Nora Roberts s older work Sweet Revenge, Honest Illusions, Homeport Especially some of Nora Roberts s older work Sweet Revenge, Honest Illusions, Homeport Especially Homeport They ve all instilled a love of characters that walk on the slightly shady side I love their shamelessness and their slightly wicked edge when paired with a unique honor code, of course So reading about a reformed or as reformed as he was going to get thief was a delight for me It s evendelicious when that thief is paired with a cop or very moral person who s on the straight and narrow It always leads to excellent banter and sexy tension which I love I liked Patrick with his perfect clothes and his faintly snooty air He paired very well with Liz and her cheap suits which drove him nuts and her absolute belief in the system He was flirty and sexy and loved nothingthan to shake Liz up and fluster her I really liked the tension that existed between them because of Liz s opinion of him and his criminal past He was by turns angry and hurt by her attitude and she was stuck in a cycle of disgust over his disregard for the law and helpless attraction I liked that Sey showed a real conflict between them over their opposing morals.Although that led to something that kind of bugged me about Patrick s He loved his life as a thief and he was excellent at it until he gave it all up for his sister such a sweetheart But for some reason he seemed to think he was a bad seed and angsted over his worthiness of love and genuinely good people I just didn t felt it jived very well with a man that supposedly loved his work so much It was an off note for me that felt forced for the sake of added conflict, but it didn t bother me too much I decided to read this book after I read a post on Fiction Vixen by Susan Sey about her hero and heroine in Money Shot I m an orderly soul so I had to read this one first I mocked the name Goose for the heroine when I heard it in the post, but I have to admit that it grew on me in this book I actually ended up thinking it was gasprather cute I really liked her character and thought she was fun as the voice of truth in Liz s relationship with Patrick I found Liz s childhood fascinating and liked how the author showed such opposing impressions of the photo taken of her, but I wish it had been featuredI did like what we saw of it, though If anything will give you issues, that will I especially liked the way Patrick confronted her about her view of her job in relationship to her past I love little insights like that I really enjoyed the sexual tension between Liz and Patrick, but I got tired of the back and forth attitude the characters were taking When Patrick wanted Liz, Liz didn t want to be with him, but when Liz decided to go for it Patrick suddenly changed his mind That seemed to be nothing but a way to stretch out the resolution of the relationship I don t like tension just for tension s sake.Although I didn t find the book perfect, I did enjoy the read I can t wait to check out Goose s story review to comeWhy I d wondered Matching shoes She closed her eyes and prayed for strength In the closet Excellent Patrick O Connor has spent the last three years of his life writing crime books, the occasional screen play and living the life But this is not the life he is accustom to Most of his life he was a very successful thief, coming from a big crime family Although non violent, he stole many, many things from people His career comes crashing down when his sister, Mara, trying her hand at the family business gets caught Patrick leaves his mentor, Villaneuva mid heist, and without his money to bargain with the FBI He agrees to work for them for three years, if his sister is released. The next three years are unpleasant ones for Patrick, as he goes on the straight and narrow, and worse, has to work with the all business, prickly Special Agent Liz Brynn On top of that Liz becomes the only person Patrick wants, but never gets Liz is very good at her job, and has no time for the suave, good looking Patrick, with his devastating smile Patrick serves his time and disappears. But now Mara is having problems with counterfeit bills at her restaurant Patrick comes into town, but withon his agenda than just aiding his sister He knows Villaneuva wants revenge, and he knows he is in Grief Creek He would never admit to loving his sisterthan anything in this world, knowing that would make her a target for his nemesis Liz grudgingly decides to dangle Patrick out as bait he is to pose as writing a screenplay and needs an expert in the counterfeiting business to help his cause Patrick can t believe he has to work with the cold hearted Liz again, but knowing he may be keeping his sister safe he agrees As Liz and Patrick work together, this time, he may be stealing her heart.Money Honey is such a cute, adorable book Patrick is just all out a smexy, smexy hero He has that bad boy thing going on being a big time ex criminal At the heart of him though, he is a decent person He is charming, funny, and can flirt like no one else Liz tries so hard not to fall for him She grew up with a horrible father, and is now working hard in her career to be everything he wasn t She doesn t want to give herself over to someone who stole from people, changed people s life for the worse But, that is all Patrick knew growing up He has changed these past few years Deep down, he still considers himself scum, but he knows how to put on the mask of indifference.Susan Sey writes so much sexual tension and energy in this book So many pages of banter between Liz and Patrick that starts with Liz disgusted to have to work with this man again, to Liz fighting her ever growing feelings Meanwhile, Patrick has always had a thing for Liz in her ugly, cheap suits He has so much fun ribbing her, and doing everything he can to get that scowl across her face Liz is always on, always calculating, and to watch Patrick try to get her to relax, is quite a feat.So many moments in this book made me smile, even Mara s two year old had me cracking up, and I usually don t go for kids in books The baddie, Villaneuva is set up to be this REALLY violent, bad dude At times I would have liked to getfrom his perspective He was kind of always hanging around threatening, and I wondered why he didn t act when he had ample opportunities But maybe it washe enjoyed playing with his targets.Money Honey is a book filled with hot sexy banter, an even sexier hero, and many moments that will have you smiling I definitely recommend this one An elegant, witty reformed thief hero be still my heart I don t think he suspense just the ways I like it heavy on the romance The sexual tension is sizzling, but it s truly a love story Patrick and Liz have to learn to know and trust each other, despite their seemingly opposite backgrounds, in order to have a satisfying happy ever after Really enjoyable Let me start simply and I ll work from there I LOVED THIS BOOK I ve never heard for Susan Sey before May 12th when and I ll work from there I LOVED THIS BOOK I ve never heard for Susan Sey before May 12th when I downloaded this ebook, but something told me to start on it right away, and I m not disappointed Far from it If it wasn t for a human s natural need for sleep and need to work for a living, I wouldn t have put it down.Sure, I got the feeling there was another story missing, something that came before this one, because the characters seemed familiar with each other and their relationships were already established And it turned out I was right There was another story before this one An unpublished one that received the Golden Heart award and Ms Sey is slowly publishing on her website. But that familiarity didn t deter me from enjoying this sexy, romantic, funny, exasperating, bitter sweet little romp of a read.It started strong, pulled me in from the first e pages, plunged me into the lives and psyches of Patrick O Connor, suave, sexy, drop dead gorgeous, ex jewel thief, his nemesis , strong willed, stubborn, determined, by the book FBI agent Elizabeth Liz Brynn, Patrick s odd ball sister, his precocious and funny as hell two year old niece, and a fewpeculiar and fascinating characters. There was also a suspense sub plot, but it playedor less second fiddle to the romance between the ex con and the FBI agent who busted him six years ago A romance that sprouted from an attraction they both kept denying, tried to forget, tried to find different names for, but in the end couldn t resist.I loved the inner turmoil Ms Sey created for them both in this story, but while Liz s was interesting, plausible, and much understood, it didn t hold a candle to the inner workings of Patric s mind The guy was a veritable martyr, though he didn t want to be, didn t think he was capable of being Yet everything he said and did showed his true self, despite his misgivings and his conviction about his dark soul unworthy of redemption.Reading about him was a real beauty, though I couldn t exactly say he changed or grew much throughout the story He was Patrick O Connor, he deserved a second chance, he deserved a shot at happinessHe just needed to be convinced, And I loved the convincing process No matter how hard I try I just couldn t find fault in this book The plot was well thought out, the pacing excellent though I wished I could read faster, and then berated myself, because it wouldn t been over too soon , the characters nicely fleshed out, convincing, and realistic, with realistic flaws that made them commit believable and plausible acts.It was just like reading about a bunch of neighbors down the street, really Like this could happen to anyoneThough I only wish there was a man like Patrick O Connor out there And if there is, I m calling dibs. This was an outstanding debut and I can t wait for the next book, featuring the lovely, sultry Maria Goose di Guzman ( Download Book ) ⚇ Money, Honey ⚇ WHEN A LAWMAKER FBI Agent Elizabeth Brynn has dedicated her reason enough Career thief gets recruited by the FBI to prevent his sister from heading to the slammer to use his particular skill set to catch other criminals White Collar and is now a bestselling novelist Castle So the premise had me hooked plus I had a nice visual in my head of leading man Patrick O Conner and I was ready to rock n roll Suave, sophisticated, debonair Patrick O Conner has not seen FBI agent Liz Brynn for 3 years since their working relationship ended read he paid his debt to the FBI in full and he s never forgotten the beautiful agent who was married to her job then and now and is still wearing her stuffy, buttoned up, bad polyester suitssome things never change Patrick s back in Grief Creek Minnesota to help his sister, Mara solve a little counterfeiting problem she s having at the Brightwater Casino and Restaurant she runs Watch out Agent Brynn cuz I think some grief is headed your way It s just like old times in Grief Creek when Patrick and Liz are forced to work together again as a team Only this time around, Patrick is hired on as an FBI consultant and that makes him a contemporary to Liz rather than a subordinate Liz has a few problems with their new working relationship and try as she might to keep her professional distance from Patrick, he s just as determined to work his magic and get at least a few of those darn buttons on her suit undone Patrick may not have the best track record when it comes to personal relationships, but he s always had the hots for the no nonsense Agent and he knows she s the one who got away He plans on rectifying that oversight this time around One of the things I loved about Patrick was how his relationship with his sister Mara developed He s keep his distance from Mara and his adorable niece Evie for the past three years partly for their own protection and partly because he doesn t do warm and fuzzy family reunions His scenes with the incorrigible Evie, sticky fingers and all were a test of wills to see who would break first Made for some cute, funny scenes Patrick and Liz have a lot of sexual chemistry, flirting and innuendo of things to come Liz is determined to hold out against the very persuasive reformed thief, but a girl only has so much willpower plus they both have a lot of old history, family baggage and personal issues to work through So its down to business first for this duo because there s a case to solve, a villain out for revenge against Patrick and said villain is willing to hit Patrick where he s most vulnerable and those closest to him are indanger than they realize In the end there was a pretty creative plot hatched to catch the bad guy and thank goodness for a blatant disregard for the law as a little break and enter opened the door for a HEA This is Susan Sey s first book and I liked it What makes me pick up a new author Well in this case, I loved the title Money, Honey it s cute and catchy the cover art hints at a sexy duo inside and of course the back cover blurb sounded just like the type of book I like to read Win win all around Next up for Susan Sey is Money Shot and it sounds like Ranger Rush and Special Agent Maria Goose di Guzman we meet her in Money, Honey are going to be another fun read 2 stars Some parts were good, but I was unhappy with the sources of conflicts and the heroine doing a few stupid things.REVIEWER S story was not a good journey Way too much pondering was going on The couple had arguments based on stupid or vague reasons which felt contrived and were not inte 2 stars Some parts were good, but I free the hostage I loved his plan It was creative and well done Unfortunately the rest of the story was not a good journey Way too much pondering was going on The couple had arguments based on stupid or vague reasons which felt contrived and were not interesting One of the fights was he wanted her but she said no Later she agreed, but then he said no because he didn t know what her reason for agreeing was Other conflicts were vague and or not well done The heroine was an FBI agent who did stupid things to put herself in danger for the sake of the plot, which made me mad I was also mad at Pat because he knew Liz was in danger but didn t tell her or her boss so they could be cautious I saw no logic in his reasoning I had trouble buying the last conversation between the bad guy and Pat It was supposed to be a good ending to keep the bad guy away, but I didn t see it that way It was very likely to me that the bad guy would come back to cause harm It should have been better.STORY BRIEF Pat is a gorgeous brilliant former thief and now a successful crime novelist To save his sister from going to jail he agreed to work with the FBI for three years He worked with Liz an FBI agent during that time It s now a few years later, and Pat comes to town to help his sister who runs an Indian reservation casino with her husband They have been losing money due to counterfeiters Liz is working on the case and Pat offers to help Liz s boss agrees and makes Pat an official consultant on the job Liz and Pat were drawn to each other before but never acted on it Now they do A second problem is Villanueva, an enemy of Pat s Villanueva is in town and wants to hurt Pat by killing anyone he loves, which could be his sister, his niece, or Liz.DATA Story length 293 pages Swearing bought into the reluctance of both main characters, even if I think it went on a little longer than necessary I thought the suspense plot was decent, as well Overall a very fun read, just perhaps not quit enough zing to move it to 4 But close, really close I will definitely read Ms Sey s next offering.
