required to give a positive review Amber, a CIA operative, drives from sunny California to wintry Tennessee with a six year old boy, Sam, the son of her murdered friend The lad is autistic and may know who killed his mother To me it seems odd that she could not rely on any backup, but when she gets to home in Wrangler s Corner she meets a friend, a sheriff s deputy, who hears her story and helps them This does take some explaining as everyone here thinks Amber is a travel writer Danger follows This is an inspirational suspen Amber, a CIA operative, drives from sunny California to wintry follows This is an inspirational suspense book which means that the characters occasionally put their trust in prayer and pass the ammunition The romance between Amber and deputy Lance is suitable for any reader but the level of danger might require parental guidance I enjoyed the snowy setting descriptions and Amber s constant worry for the child, as she thinks she is making a bad mother compared to his own mother Not all autistic kids would be so co operative so it seems Amber is not doing that badly I downloaded an ARC from Net Galley This is an unbiased review #Pdf î Classified Christmas was one moment after the boy witnessed again another parent dying when he says basically you re number one mom now.that was really corny and unrealistic I rolled my eyes but it wasn t enough for me to dock a star I m a sucker for police and military stories and children in stories don t bother me like they do some readers So, I was hopeful for this story The author is new to me but the blurb was promising Sadly, it was just okay I seem to be in the minority though as over here on goodreads it has lots of 4 and 5 star ratings Ah well.I don t know much about the CIA, mainly what I read in books how competent she really was There were a few surprises and the story was moderately suspenseful but certainly not as thrilling or snail biting as it could have been The portrayal of a child with autism was fairly well done, if slightly stereotypical. The romance was was the strongest part of the story There were sparks between Amber and Lance and they meshed well together They knew each other growing up and the sparks had been there for years Since this part of a series, there were references to events in previous books but that didn t slow down the story for me, it worked as a stand alone And with a history between, the romance moving as quickly as it did was believable They already knew each other, had been friends, so they had a foundation I wanted a happy ending for them, and for the boy, Sam.This is an inspirational title so there s talk of the Christian God and accepting Christ as the savior but it wasn t heavy handed and it fit smoothly into the story. While I didn t love the story, I m intrigued enough to readin the series if I have the chance Amber is a CIA agent on the run when her best friend was killed and has her friends autistic son safe with her Amber believes that her mission is compromised and needs to keep this child safe but needs the funds to continue running so she heads to her home town to pick up some money, little did she know was that she was interesting I loved getting to see a bit of the autistic kid and how they portrayed him, I have a autistic brother and so I was hoping that the author would be fair with the portrayal of the character which I was glad for Once or twice I come across a autistic character and they are so stereotypical and not accurate that it actually bothers me but the portrayal of the kid in this book was fair and I loved that I liked that this book was clean, so if that s something you look in a book then you ll want to pick this book up Its also very heavy on the christian faith talking about god and such and while that s not something I normally like I think many of you readers out there might appreciate that I loved that this book was very action packed with so much going on that it s hard to step away form this book because some new problem or some thing hidden is revealed and your not going to want to miss it Overall this was pretty good book I really enjoyed it The first half of this book was amazing I loved that the child who was the star of the book was autistic That s rarely featured in the novels I read, but it was a well written addition to this particular story Ms Eason handled the disability with tender care and incredible detail That swiftly became my favorite aspect of this book.Unfortunately, the second half of this one was riddled with major inconsistencies, factual errors, book.Unfortunately, the second half of this one was riddled with major inconsistencies, factual errors, and major improbabilities, as well as some poor and unlikely choices from agents from at least two different government agencies These things distracted me big time from the plot, causing my pace of reading to slow dramatically. There were a couple of history dumps early on, but once I got past those two or three moments, I didn t notice any others There were two to four head hopping instances throughout the story, without chapter or scene breaks Those spun my mind for a bit, and I had to reread sections to make sure I knew which POV character was leading the way again. The action was high, most of the plot twists were unpredictable, and the themes were awesome I liked the creativity of dumping this story in the middle of winter That presented natural challenges that heightened the danger and tension in the lives of Amber, Lance, and Sam I also really loved trying to figure out what all Sam knew by the sporadic clues he gave That was an entertaining aspect to the story.I m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.I purchased a copy of this book when it released, so I was not compensated for my honest review That was a bit of a let downAfter reading Clay s story, I was very excited to hear the rest of Lance Goode s story While this story definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, I felt like the character development could have used quite a bit of work Both Amber and Lance felt really underdeveloped, which was disappointing, as Lance especially had the potential to be a fabulous character Sam was adorable though, and I loved the portrayal of autism and how Sam processed things using number That was a bit of a let downAfter reading Clay s story, I
