This isn t a genre I would ordinarily read however I got an Advance Reader Copy from Net Galley and thought I would give it a go All That Sparkles is a quick and easy read Rich, sheltered female protagonist reconnects with an old flame, discovers information about her heritage and begins to assert her need for independence, all of which are met with the disapproval of her overbearing father The themes aren t particularly thought provoking but that s okay I view this kind of book as Junk This isn t a genre I would ordinarily read however I got an Advance Reader Copy from Net Galley and thought I would give it a go All That Sparkles is a quick and easy read Rich, sheltered female protagonist reconnects with an old flame, discovers information about her heritage and begins to assert her need for independence, all of which are met with the disapproval of her overbearing father The themes aren t particularly thought provoking but that s okay I view this kind of book as Junk Food Reading not particularly nourishing yet oddly enjoyable in a crude sort of way My biggest problem was with the limited repetitive vocabulary Someone s eyes widened on eleven different occasions Imogen or Christian were tired or exhausted around thirty five times It made me feel tired Sometimes I think a subtle inference can beeffective than the repetition of a single adjective If you ve worked an 80 hour week whilst simultaneously keeping up with social commitments and sleeping very little I think most readers can deduce via contextual clues that the resulting physical and emotional state would be exhaustion I didn t really identify with Imogen and found it difficult to understand her decision making process and reactions to certain situations I think, for such a short book, it would have been better to focus on either the relationship between Christian and Imogen or Remy and Imogen As it stands, both come off as a little two dimensional I felt the build up to major plot points was let down by somewhat anticlimatic resolutions I think this book had potential and it wasn t unpleasant to read hence my rating of three stars I liked the way in which the relationship between Christian and Imogen was established before the story started, that s a neat trick I liked this shared history I liked the supporting characters as well, especially Kate Imogen s father Remy and his flunkie Jacques were devilishly villainous I liked Chris s dad and how he was positive about his circumstance Lots to like in here. #DOWNLOAD ⛓ All That Sparkles Ô Imogen Fontaine is living every girl s dreamShe is a fashion designer for her family s haute couture label, lives in a mansion, has a great circle of friends and is the apple of her father s eye Everything is perfectUntil the day that Christian, the boy at the center of her childhood heartbreak, walks back into her lifeFrom there her life starts to unravel, as long kept secrets are revealed Imogen learns that her past was built on lies and betrayal, shattering the illusion of her perfect existence She must seek out the truth if she has any hope of forging a new path for herself and discovering true freedomBut can she convince Christian that there is a place for him in her new life Imi that girl knows how to take what she wants, then she grinned I think so, she said slowly But I need another sample to be sure Chris s heart leaped as she touched his cheek and then kissed him I like that she can surprise her man, when it came time to order, she chose steak with chips and salad and a bottle of wine for them to share Another part of him relaxed He liked a woman with an appetite I also liked when Chris knew he did wrong and chose to put his woman first, Chris de Imi that girl knows how to take what she wants, then she grinned I think so, she said slowly But I need another sample to be sure Chris s heart leaped as she touched his cheek and then kissed him I like that she can surprise her man, when it came time to order, she chose steak with chips and salad and a bottle of wine for them to share Another part of him relaxed He liked a woman with an appetite I also liked when Chris knew he did wrong and chose to put his woman first, Chris debated what to tell him and decided on the truth I ve got to fix things with my girlfriend I liked this book I enjoyed Imi coming into her own and standing on her own two feet A little bit offThe story was special, but the writing was a little bit off There were letters and words missing There were some sentences that just didn t make sense Otherwise it was a lovely book and I would recommend it. Sparkles and I was not disappointed At the same time, if you haven t read What Goes On Tour it won t affect your enjoyment of this one because we focus on completely different characters. One thing I will say before I get started on our main characters is that Boston illustrates beautifully the difference between Adrian Kent on tour and at home In All That Sparkles we see a bit of our original heroes and Kent is nowhere in sight, it s all Adrian and we get a close look at how different he is to his alter ego.Imogen Fontaine takes centre stage in All That Sparkles She is the heiress to an inconic fashion label that is haute couture and not designed, or priced, for the masses She is her father s right hand woman and always at the company s beck and call.Imogen may know the business inside out but she is suffering at the hands of workplace nastiness and having her creativity stifled because she wants to design things for regular people Remy Fontaine does not design for regular people, he designs for the extremely wealthy. It seems everything in Remy s live is about the extremely wealthy He has always been very protective of Imogen and dressed it up in a way that it was all about her protection The further we get into the story we discover it is about ensuring she is protected from the ordinary world and surrounded only by the wealthy He screens her friendships, emotionally blackmailed her into moving into the guest house rather than moving out and keeps her close at Tour De Force so she can take over from him when he retires. The rest of the review can be hearabout the back story behind the two main characters, Imogen and Christian and feelchemistry between them Even the relationship between the two as adults felt a bit dry, especially with all those uncertain moments Imogen s father is ridiculously annoying, but makes up for it in the end, I guess I wish there wasbuild up between Imogen and Christian and I Wanted to feelof the chemistry between
