order He promises himself he ll treat Ollie only as a friend, but Ollie quickly becomes the only man he wants A Timeless Dreams title While reaction to same sex relationships throughout time and across cultures has not always been positive, these stories celebrate M M love in a manner that may address, minimize, or ignore historical stigma Originally reviewed for The Book VixenIn a Nutshell the gentle, injured young Ollie. Why I Read this Book I adore historical MM romance and I m always searching it out. What I Didn t Like This is not the romance for me Adrian is older, has the money and power On the other hand, Ollie is described often as a boy and practically a child If the term boy is used in the context of a Dom sub relationship that s fine by me but not in a romance with characters with such vast age differences. To make this situation worse, Adrian has all the power in the relationship He creates a job for Ollie of organizing his library so Ollie isn t sold by his uncle to a molly house So this puts Adrian in a power position of Ollie where he can t say no to sexual advances without life repercussions I m sure the author intended to have Adrian s seduction of young Ollie be erotic but it struck me as grooming instead review copy from publisher 3 Stars A Hearts On Fire ReviewTWO A HALF STARS Hollis Shiloh s Adrian s Librarian is a regency my fave historical this one Adrian somehow likes the buckets of tears and purchases Oliver s services under the pretense of fixing his library At this point, I have yet to read about Adrian s rakish ways There were hints to a possible devious past but it wastalk than show So Oliver is saved from having to be a rent boy maybe once again no definite details were given Oliver is a definite crier, he cries when he sad, happy and it felt like to pass the time I m not a supporter of incessant crying from male nor female characters Oliver might have been molested raped the actual details were not discussed by a male tutor in the past Maybe if there weredetails about his ordeals or actual proof of Adrian being a rake, I might have cared The best part of rakes in regencies is getting to read about their descent into monogamy being in love This story has it but Adrian was not a rake and Oliver did nothing to be desirous MANTEARS do not seduce in my book. With the rampant MANTEARS, the mere kisses and barely mentioned handjobs that left melimp than wantingand the weak weird ending in Mushville, I was not moved In fact, I was not invested in either main characters, we only get to learn few crumbs about the main characters instead of the entire cookie.Meh.The blurb was the best part of the book First thing to note before reading this one is that it is a Dreamspinner Press A Timeless Dreams is the story of Adrian, a wealthy player and Oliver, the loneliest boy in the world. There is a lot of crying, Regency speak that isn t, a lot of angst that isn t all that angsty if only because we don t get any real details, and a story line that plows straight through with no distraction from the main plot. But none of those things are necessarily bad It is really sweet It is a stress free read which can be nice And, even as we don t get enough detail on Oliver, I found myself really liking him and wishing I could knowabout him The premise is fabulous and I think if you can separate what you thought this SHOULD be, and read it for what it is, it s kind of adorable.Novella length can be tricky and, while Hollis Shiloh may have written a great deal in the last few years, this appears to be one of his her first I ll certainly try another
